In Year 1, the curriculum is thoughtfully designed to nurture the foundational skills and curiosity of our young learners. In English, children develop early reading abilities, explore phonics, and engage in creative writing exercises. The children continue to use Read, Write Inc. for phonics lessons and also prepare for the Year 1 Phonics Screening test in July. Mathematics instruction introduces fundamental concepts such as counting, basic addition and subtraction, and shape recognition. Beyond the core subjects, Year 1 integrates a holistic approach, incorporating activities that foster social development, creativity, and physical well-being. Through a blend of structured lessons and play-based learning, students are encouraged to ask questions, express themselves, and begin building a solid academic and social foundation for their educational journey ahead. The Year 1 curriculum is designed to spark enthusiasm for learning and lay the groundwork for future academic success.
